NAVA™ Weekend Warrior® Teacher Training Program consists of 3 Levels during 3 academic semesters: Fall 2008 / Winter 2009 will be NAVA(TM) 4th edition.

Classes will be held one weekend per month from

  • October 2008 - January 2009, for level 1.
  • February 2009 - June 2009 for Level 2
  • September 2009 - January 2010 for level 3

Training sessions will take place on Friday evenings, Saturdays & Sundays, for a total of 14 contact hours per weekend.

Though we highly recommend completing all three levels (for a more in dept knowledge and education and to obtain YA certification), Levels may be taken individually and separately, either to accumulate hours to be completed at a later date for the full 200 hrs, or as CEU. Missed weekends can be made up during the next cycle. NAVA will start a new Level 1 cycle every 6 months. This will facilitate those who join later in the program but still want to finish the full 200 hour course. RYT 200: 100 hours of this course may be credited towards ANY 500 hr TT program or school.

What makes this program unique?
It is the only of it's kind in the region, adding non traditional yoga teachings elements to it's curriculum, while still maintaining the integrity and requirements of an authentic Yoga Teacher Training Program. Adding Tools for Life to our program, leaves space for non aspirant yoga students to attend on a drop in basis to deepen their practice and further their knowledge.

This is for you if:

  • You are interested in becoming a Certified Power Vinyasa Yoga Teacher.
  • You are interested in expanding and deepening your personal practice and increasing your knowledge of Yoga.
  • You are already a certified yoga teacher and want to learn some of the NAVA yoga methodology and collect CEU towards 500-hour program.

This course will give you an opportunity to acquire the skills and the confidence necessary to teach a NAVA Power Vinyasa Yoga class, which incorporates, asanas, music, meditation and scriptural study into a challenging vinyasa practice.

The program is annually on going and covers yoga philosophy and scripture, history of yoga, introduction to Sanskrit, introduction to anatomy, practice teaching sessions, study groups, mentor guidance, quizzes, midterm and final tests, and all aspects of NAVA Power Vinyasa Yoga. A special segment of this teacher training will be dedicated to Tools of Life-alternative healing methods.NAVA program is structured in 6 modules™. Each Level will cover ALL the material comprised in those 6 modules™, which are in compliance with the minimum requirements of Yoga Alliance required min. hours.
Only when completing ALL 3 Levels will students be eligible for registration with YA. Completing individual levels will only qualify you for a certificate of attendance and stamp of The Croatian Ministry of Education ( in process). There will be a written and practical exam after each level. Each level counts 70 hrs of education/ contact hours and advanced Independent Studies: teachings, assisting & other non contact hours.

THE 6 MODULES™

1. "Hands on: 99% practice, 1 % Theory"
As quoted by Sri Patabbi Jois: Practice is the key. Discover the layers of NAVA Vinyasa Yoga practice as a student and a teacher. Learn how to teach the 3 variations of the Sun Salutations and more!

2. " The Bones"
The Study and practice of anatomy specifically relating to asana practice. Yoga sutra presentation. Weaving philosophy and dharma into an asana class. The spine and the nervous system, upper limps anatomy, lower body anatomy, and much more.

3. " Transitions & modifications"

4. " Breath, Belly & Bhandas"
Healthy breathing includes proper technique in breath combined with proper technique in posture-from Sun Salutations to Savasana. One of the principal differences between Yoga and other forms of exercise is the "union of breath and body movement." Instruction and practice of mindfulness of breath and body is the first step in experiencing the connection between our emotions and our bodies. The yoga sutras deal specifically with this connection between the emotional and physical body and will be introduced here, weaving philosophy and Dharma into an asana class.

5. " Tupsy turphy" turning upside down
Balance and Inversion: the King and Queen of Yoga practice. Balancing in yoga postures is essential in developing strength, flexibility and confidence. Inversion poses are the most important for restorative, healing and relaxation. Learning of neutralizing / counter poses.

6. " Opening & Closings"
Each yoga class is different. Each yoga teacher is different. Here, you will learn the best ways to start a class (setting the tone) and finish a class (cooling down and end rest), whether for advanced or beginner students.
